This is to give notice that the City of Granbury plans to submit an application to the Texas Parks &Wildlife Department for a Local Parks Program Grant. Pursuant to Executive Order 11988 and Executive Order 11990, to determine the potential effect that its activity in the floodway, floodplain, and wetlands will have on the human environment. If funded, Grantee shall complete trail and other recreation improvements at Lambert Branch Park which is approximately 6.16 acres in size. Project improvements to include trail installation, landscaping, lighting, and other recreation improvements. Per FEMA Map 48221C0185E, eff. 4/5/2019, the improvements are located in the floodway, 100-year floodplain, and 500-year floodplain. According to the Fish & Wildlife Services, National Wetlands Inventory, improvements may also occur within wetlands. The proposed project is located on property owned by the City of Granbury, Hood County, Texas. There are three primary purposes for this notice. First, people who may be affected by activities in floodplains and wetlands and those who have an interest in the protection of the natural environment should be given an opportunity to express their concerns and provide information about these areas. Second, an adequate public notice program can be an important public educational tool. The dissemination of information about floodplains and wetlands can facilitate and enhance Federal efforts to reduce the risks associated with the occupancy and modification of these special areas. Third, as a matter of fairness, when the Federal government determines it will participate in actions taking place in floodplains and wetlands, it must inform those who may be put at greater or continued risk. Commenters are encouraged to attend the City of Granbury's public hearing on July 8, 2024 at 6 PM at Granbury City Hall, 116 W Bridge street, Granbury, Texas. If you are unable to attend, please submit your views and comments to Aaron McLain, amclain@granbury.org.
