AN ORDINANCE ALTERING THE PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS ESTABLISHED FOR VEHICLES UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE TRANSPORATION CODE, § 545.352, UPON THE BASIS OF AN ENGINEERING AND TRAFFIC INVESTIGATION UPON CERTAIN STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, OR PARTS THEREOF, WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF GRANBURY AS SET OUT IN THE ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED $500.00 FOR VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRANBURY, TEXAS:
SECTION 1
AMENDMENTS
The following prima facie speed limit hereafter indicated for vehicles is hereby determined and declared to be reasonable and safe; and such speed limits are hereby fixed at the rate of speed indicated for vehicles traveling upon the named streets and highways, or parts thereof, is to be amended to include the School Zones as follows:
1921 Acton Highway, adjacent to Lake Pointe Academy, zoned at 25 MPH from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the school year.
SECTION 2
PENALTY
It shall be unlawful for any person to violate any provision of this Ordinance, and any person violating or failing to comply with any provision of this Ordinance shall be fined, upon conviction, an amount not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) and a separate offense shall be deemed committed upon each day during or on which a violation occurs and continues.
SECTION 3
PUBLICATION
The City Secretary of the City of Granbury is directed to publish in the official newspaper of the City, the caption, and effective date of this Ordinance as required by law.
SECTION 4
EFFECTIVE DATE
This Ordinance supersedes all previous ordinances pertaining to the above referenced street(s) or highway(s) and shall become effective from and after its date of passage in accordance with law.
